Why Summer DB exists
Trust is the whole thing.
A game database is only useful if you can believe what it tells you. That includes what it tells you about us.
Every game gets the same standard.
Summer owns Summer DB. That earns our games no protection from poor reviews, no hidden boost, and no special treatment. We disclose that relationship openly.
Sources stay visible.
The catalog comes from Steam. Steam player counts and Steam reviews are labeled as external measurements. They are not Summer DB community ratings.
Missing data stays missing.
The catalog index and detailed metadata have different coverage. A blank measurement is never replaced with an invented number. Collection times tell you how fresh a record is.
Merit cannot be bought.
Ratings, organic rankings, and editorial endorsements are not for sale. This catalog’s sorting uses the displayed source metrics, not paid placement.
Criticism is part of the record.
Players can leave native ratings and written reviews. Moderation and anti-manipulation rules apply equally to every publisher. Protecting a brand from legitimate criticism is not moderation.
The database is an interface, too.
The same catalog powers the visual site, JSON API, and Markdown records. Stable identifiers and visible provenance let people and agents inspect the same facts.
